Just Stop Oil activists today brought Whitehall to a grinding halt as they marched towards the Cenotaph.
The eco-mob were pictured lying next to the sacred war memorial on Monday as Metropolitan Police officers arrested at least 40 of the zealots during the slow march stunt.
Earlier today, JSO smashed the protective glass on the Rokeby Venus oil painting at the National Gallery in a stunt they claimed emulated the Suffragettes in the early 20th Century.
The latest stunt is set to spark fears of clashes at the weekend, when a major pro-Palestine protest is planned for Armistice Day. Today, Rishi Sunak‘s spokesman said the pro-Palestine event was ‘provocative and disrespectful’ and warned any desecration of monuments or incidents of racial hatred would be an ‘affront to the public’.

Just Stop Oil activists causing chaos in London today
Last week, Just Stop Oil brought chaos to the streets of the capital after halting traffic in East London.
A dozen activists marched on Cambridge Heath Road, bringing traffic to a halt and prompting a furious cabbie to flash activists the middle finger as he yells as them: ‘You’re all being manipulated.’
Just Stop Oil protesters obstructing traffic near Downing Street were arrested and placed on and around the Cenotaph by police, according to protesters and an officer.
A mother-of-one lying cuffed on the base of the war memorial said: ‘They arrested us in the road and we were dragged to the pavement and then back over here.’
One officer said the protesters had been moved to the site ‘to get them off the road’, adding: ‘It was for their own safety, obviously it’s quite a busy road.’
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that ‘targeting the Cenotaph is totally unacceptable’. She added: ‘Full support for the police in taking necessary enforcement action.’

Fears have already been growing that pro-Palestine protests will clash with the Remembrance Day parade, wreath laying ceremony and two-minute silence being held in London on Saturday.

Today’s JSO protest comes just days after JSO brought chaos to the streets of the capital after halting traffic in East London with the third slow march to plague motorists last week.
A dozen activists marched on Cambridge Heath Road, bringing traffic to a halt and prompting a furious cabbie to flash activists the middle finger as he yells as them: ‘You’re all being manipulated.’
It was the third march to hit the capital last week as the campaign group – infamous for its publicity stunts at major sporting events – ramps up its ‘three weeks of action’ in London, in which it has vowed to ‘slow (the city)…on an unprecedented scale’.
