A dad has been killed and five others including his two children and partner have been rushed to hospital after two cars collided in Melbourne’s west.
The family — a man, woman and their two children — were inside a Ford travelling on Nerowie Rd in Parwan after after 10am Sunday when it collided with a Jeep.
The man died at the scene, despite frantic efforts from witnesses and emergency responders to revive him.
His partner in the passenger front seat was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Their two children in the back seat were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


Harrowing footage from the scene shows the smashed Ford on its side with the road strewn with debris.
Police allege the Jeep driver is believed to have been travelling on the wrong side of the road when it ploughed into the family’s Ford.
The Jeep driver was arrested at the scene and is assisting detectives with their inquiries.
No charges have yet been laid as detectives continue their investigations.
‘The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation is ongoing,’ a police statement read.
