A short clip of Sydney‘s most popular beach filmed during the weekend heatwave has divided Aussies, with one claiming it resembles ‘hell on earth’.
The video, uploaded by TikTok user Pari, pans across Bondi Beach from its north end, showing thousands of sun worshippers crowded on the sand and playing in the shallows.
‘Oh my god, look at the people on the beach,’ exclaims the man filming.
The clip, which has since been viewed almost half a million times, was flooded with negative comments from disillusioned beachgoers.
‘Sydney is hell on earth,’ said one.
‘Bondi Beach is Australia’s biggest lie to the rest of the world,’ added another.
The author of the clip later revealed they had tried three different locations in the city’s exclusive Eastern Suburbs but ‘they all looked the same’.
‘Bondi is such a s*** hole. Overrated,’ wrote one Aussie.

‘This is a daily occurrence at Bondi, it’s always this packed,’ said another.
‘I thank myself every day for moving to Perth,’ quipped a third.
A fourth added: ‘This is why I’m glad I work weekends and have 2 weekdays off, no one’s at the beach.
Another said: ‘I am happy when everyone goes to Bondi lol, I go somewhere else and there is enough space for me.
Others suggested the author should forget the city’s overcrowded beaches and travel elsewhere.
‘I live in Sydney. Worst beaches in NSW. Go down south, not overcrowded and way more beautiful,’ said one.
Another said: ‘Come to the mid-north coast. Whole beach to yourself and no paid parking.’
A third added: ‘The reason why I won’t live in the city.’
‘This is literally why I’ll never live in Sydney. I love going to the beach here in Perth and having like two family’s on it in the middle of summer, a fourth added.
Similarly busy scenes were witnessed at Coogee beach on Saturday as crowds across the city sought to make the most of the early Spring heatwave.
‘It’s the start of Spring, imagine summer,’ commented one user.
At least 26 people were taken to hospital after competing in the Sydney marathon on Sunday with the mercury peaking at 32C.
