Edward was partially based on a real-life survivor of a crash called Ruben, who was also a sole survivor of a plane crash.

The tragic event had occurred when he was on the way back from a South Africa safari with his family – and he ended up living with his aunt and uncle.

Bling Empire and Bling Empire: New York (Netflix)

It first came under fire for launching during the pandemic when an anti-Asian sentiment was at its peak in America.

And it also faced backlash for perpetuating stereotypes about Asian Americans being wealthy and privileged.

However, overall, the release was considered a radical move and praised for bringing inclusivity to an industry that largely lacked diversity at the time.

‘We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned.

‘That’s life. We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were a part of this wonderful adventure. We love you. Never forget.’

The show had previously been immersed in controversy amid allegations the show had plagiarized its material from a Brazilian graphic novel.

Mindhunter (Netflix)

In February, Mindhunter executive producer David Fincher said the show would not return for a third season on Netflix.

The filmmaker told French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche that the streaming service found the show too pricey to continue with the psychological crime thriller.

‘I’m very proud of the first two seasons. But it’s a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn’t attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment’ for a third season, he told the outlet.
