Illinois’ Democratic governor, and pundit for President Joe Biden‘s reelection campaign, said Tuesday that no matter what candidates disguise themselves with, they are all pushing the same ‘extreme MAGA agenda.’
Gov. J.B. Pritzker said all 2024 Republican candidates have the same agenda but claimed they are ‘dressed-up’ in different ways – like with red ties, boots and high heels.
During a press conference ahead of the third Republican presidential primary debate, Pritzker fed into some of the jokes and criticism claiming Gov. DeSantis wears lifts in his cowboy boots to appear taller.
‘The MAGA agenda isn’t an agenda about freedom – it’s about fear,’ Pritzker said from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) post 1991 in Miami, Florida. ‘Everyone in this Republican primary believes in this agenda.’
‘They might try to dress it up in different ways – in boots, in high heels or a red tie – but it’s all the same,’ he said to laughter from the few attending the press conference along with a room-full of press.
Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker took aim at Republican 2024 contenders disguising their same ‘extreme MAGA agenda’ behind different appearances and sales-tactics
He specifically fed into the continued jokes and rumors that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wears lifts in his cowboy boots to appear taller
Pritzker was joined, among others, by the Biden-Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez and Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried.
The group decried DeSantis’ Florida blueprint and said his policies would be devastating on a national level.
DeSantis will be joined on-stage Wednesday by four other candidates – and Trump, who is skipping the debate, remains the far frontrunner. Still, Democrats gathered in Miami on Tuesday were mostly focused on attacking Florida’s governor.
But Pritzker acknowledged that all of the candidates tout the same agenda.
‘We’re, of course, here in Florida to talk about the debate that’s going to happen tomorrow night,’ he noted. ‘And we’re at the ground zero point of the MAGA agenda, and that’s why I’m here.’
Debating with DeSantis on Wednesday evening are former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Haley hopped on attacking DeSantis for his boot-wearing.
Pritzker also noted ‘red ties and high heels’ – likely referencing Donald Trump (left), who normally wears a stark red tie, and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (right), who is the only woman running in the Republican primary
Haley, the only woman running in the Republican primary election, joked she ‘never’ hid the fact that she wears high heels amid DeSantis’ denials that in addition to the heeled boots, that he also wears lifts in them.
‘Are you wearing higher heels than Ron DeSantis next week at the debate so that you can look taller than him on the stage?’ Daily Show guest host Charlamagne tha God questioned Haley during an interview last Wednesday.
‘I don’t know. We’ll have to figure that out,’ the presidential candidate from South Carolina replied of her rival.
‘I can tell you: I’ve always talked about my high heels,’ Haley joked. ‘I’ve never hid that from anybody. I’ve always said, ‘Don’t wear ’em if you can’t run in ’em,’ so we’ll see if he can run in ’em.’
