Kelce lost out to actor Patrick Dempsey for the award handed out by People Magazine each year, but he jokingly said that he doesn’t need a magazine to feel like the sexiest man in the world.
He was introduced as the ‘sexiest man in the NFL’ on the pregame show – and they even mocked up a cover with his face on it – which led to Kelce dropping some jokes.
‘Listen, I don’t know how this all happened, but it’s honestly just another day,’ the 36-year-old Kelce said. ‘My wife tells me all the time I’m the sexiest man in the world, so I’ve been wondering what’s been taking so long for this nomination to happen.
‘It’s been a whirlwind, it’s been fun. It’s a win for plus-size bearded men all over.’
Eagles center Jason Kelce reflected on losing out on the title of People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’
Kelce was a finalist for the award, but he missed out to previous winner Patrick Dempsey
Jason said that his wife, Kylie ‘reminds me every day that I’m the sexiest man alive’
Kelce was also interviewed in the pre-game show by Taylor Rooks. When she asked what Dempsey had that he didn’t, Jason quipped, ‘I don’t know, a chiseled jaw line?
‘It’s more about self-reflection. What could I have done to be better? How could I have been sexier? I don’t know. I did the best I could.
‘My wife Kylie reminds me every day that I’m the sexiest man alive, so as long as I’m still No. 1 in her heart, I’m good.’
‘I’ve been sitting and thinking it’s gonna be the end for like three years now so I think that every year, the emotion sets in a little bit more.
‘You try and just cherish each day a little bit more, each and every game. As you get older, it gets harder to have energy and enthusiasm a little bit. When you think about it in terms of ‘hey man, this could be the last game you ever play’, it really sets the tone for the day.
‘I think, for me, I don’t know when that’s gonna happen – if this is gonna be the last year or not. But I’m just trying to enjoy it while it’s here.
When asked when he thinks he’ll know that it’s time to hang it up, Kelce said, ‘Well I think it’ll hurt a lot to keep playing – which it does hurt now.’
The Eagles are on a bye this week, but they’ll return for Monday Night Football for a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.
