An Iowa cheerleader suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction when his pants fell down midway through an acrobatics routine on Saturday.

But the man avoided more humiliation by somehow still landing his backflip before pulling his pants up from around his ankles.

The Hawkeyes beat Western Michigan 41-10 on Saturday to continue their perfect start to the season. Iowa have now won all three of their matches this season.

But the headlines were dominated by what unfolded once the team’s cheerleaders entered the end zone at Nile Kinnick Stadium.

During their performance, one male cheerleader ran across the field before performing some impressive acrobatcs.

But as he tried to end his routine with a backflip – twisting in mid-air – the cheerleader’s pants dropped to his ankles.

Unfazed, he managed to land the move and pull up his pants before running off the field to applause from the stands – and gasps from his teammates.

The footage went viral and sparked some hilarious responses on social media. ‘(He) picked a good day not to go commando,’ one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘Good thing he was wearing clean underwear, another added.

Some supporters offered advice to other cheerleaders who were planning to follow his lead. ‘Drawstring is a must when doing flips in front of 40,000 people,’ one wrote.
