She’s one of Australia’s leading chefs and cookbook authors, known for her ability to create a tasty dish from fresh ingredients.

And now Donna Hay has revealed her favourite kitchen utensil for prepping vegetables – and the gadget costs under $20.

Speaking at a recent event, the celebrity chef, 47, who’s currently writing a plant-based cookbook said the box grater was one of her go-to gadgets. 

She said kitchen utensil, which can be found virtually everywhere including supermarkets, is ideal for those wanting to avoid bulkier items.

‘I’m not a big fan of getting out the food processor when I’m trying to get homework done with two boys, so I just grate veggies with a box grater,’ she told Lifestyle.

‘Broccoli even has a handle already here for you, which I find genius.’

In 2018, her eponymous title Donna Hay Magazine, celebrated its 100th issue, a feat celebrating 17 years.  

The achievement came with expected fanfare as well as Donna revealing details on her most-requested dessert.

When asked exactly what people still ask her about when it comes to sweet things, she said ‘people go nuts for pavlova‘.

‘I would have thought it would be chocolate or caramel, but it’s the meringue,’ she said.

Although sweet treats still capture the hearts and minds of aspiring home chefs, Donna continues to lead the charge for embracing a healthy lifestyle.
