Delighted foodies have sent social media into a frenzy after spotting a brand new mint flavour of Maltesers on supermarket shelves.

The block has been released across Australia following the success of the iconic chocolate brand’s milk and dark flavoured blocks and can be purchased in all Woolworths, IGA and Coles stores.

While many are thrilled with the new addition to the range – dubbing it a ‘game changer’ – others aren’t so sold on the treat.

‘I bought a packet of the mint Maltesers once and they are the best thing I’ve ever eaten,’ one woman wrote on Facebook.

‘Devastated I saw this five seconds after ordering shopping,’ another said.

Others expressed disappointment at how hard the chocolate was to find while some simply had no interest in trying the block at all.

‘They are just putting toothpaste in everything now,’ one woman said.

‘We always look for more opportunities to provide our consumers with new ways to enjoy our well-loved brands, this includes new flavour options for our core brands,’ a Mars spokes person told FEMAIL.

‘Mint is a firm Australian consumer favourite when it comes to chocolate flavours and was a logical step for Maltesers block and Pods.’

Maltesers previous released a mint flavour of its regular range back in 2016 and again, the decision divided opinion.

It joins a growing selection of brands adding mint flavours to their line up including Cadbury Mint Bubbly, Nestle’s Areo chocolate blocks and even Kit Kat.

The mint block will be available for 12 months and a new Maltesers Mint ice cream is set to be released in coming months as well.
