American mixed martial artist Brian Ortega Is Not In Jail. He was detained due to identity confusion. He currently competes in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale was to feature the professional boxer’s promotional debut against Diego Brando on May 31, 2014. But a few days prior to the fight, he called it off due to an injury. Officials did not attempt to find a replacement because the adjustment was made so late. Ortega was also removed from the lineup.

Ortega ultimately made his professional debut against Mike De La Torre on July 26, 2014, at UFC on Fox 12. The outcome was originally a rear-naked choke victory for Ortega in the first round, but it was changed to “No Contest” after a post-fight drug test revealed that Ortega had used drostanolone. Ortega was later punished with a $2,500 fine and a nine-month suspension.

Right now, Brian Ortega is not in jail, and he was arrested due to mistaken identity. In 2018, he provided details about the incident on his social media.

The fighter tried to aid a group he thought had been involved in a car accident. He later determined that the group was merely drunk, and a fight between the group broke out shortly after. The famous fighter assisted in calming down the Fight’s participants but was allegedly mistaken for someone else and arrested by police. The police allegedly believed he was the individual that started the Fight.

Ortega asserted that the person who started the altercation had already left the area. He was only slightly irritated by the fact that they continued to huddle, talk, and flashlights at him while continuing to do so while also talking and talking. After some time, they unlocked the door and let him leave.

Similarly, another police report was filed against Ortega for allegedly slapping rapper Jay Park at UFC on March 8, 2020. He was arrested and charged at this time also. Chan Sung Jung, also known as “The Korean Zombie,” joined Park at the event held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Ortega approached Park and slapped him just after Jung went to the bathroom.

Ortega claimed in an Instagram post that he would slap Park if he saw him. The threat was made because Park had translated for Jung when Jung claimed Ortega had avoided fighting him.

Where Is He Now?

The mixed martial artist is now in a resting period after being injured on July 16, 2022. He faced Yair Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 3, and he got an injury in the right shoulder at the end of the first round.

In the Saturday night main event, Ortega’s shoulder appeared to dislocate in the final minute of a back-and-forth opening round, resulting in a TKO loss to Rodriguez. With Ortega looking for atonement for his title loss to Alexander Volkanovski and Rodriguez pursuing his first opportunity at UFC gold, it was a profoundly unfortunate way for a fight of this magnitude to end, and Ortega couldn’t help lamenting his misfortune.

“It’s unfortunate, I told him we can run it back any time.”

“I’m sorry this happened, it’s part of the game.”

The outcome is more unlucky for him considering his past issues with his shoulder; over the 31 years old fighter has gone twice for surgery for shoulder injuries. Ortega competed against Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship at UFC 266 on September 25, 2021. The fighter lost the Fight because of the unanimous decision. The multi-talented fighter won the Fight of the Night award for this battle.
