Two men have been charged after they allegedly assaulted a woman with a hammer, a knife and a multi-tool at a hotel.

Queensland Ambulance crews responded to the alleged assault at a premises on Laycock Street in Surfers Paradise around 1.45am on Friday.

It is alleged the two men assaulted a woman known to them for more than 45 minutes with the implements.

Gold Coast police allege a 36-year-old man from Mareeba and a 40-year-old man from Surfer’s Paradise cut her leg with a knife and chopped her hair with a multi-tool.

They fled the scene before police and paramedics arrived but a short time later were arrested at a Trickett Street unit.

The woman was found to have a large laceration to her leg and was transported in a stable condition to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Both men were charged with one count each of torture, wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

They will both appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
