As universities cancel or postpone their graduation ceremonies amid the Covid-19 pandemic, students have taken the festivities into their own hands.

While graduates would usually have gathered to receive their degrees and diplomas in front of close friends and family, the current crisis means celebrations have taken place behind closed doors.

As some graduates celebrate with virtual drinks with classmates and lecturers, others have held their own parties – donning their caps and gowns in their back gardens and living rooms.

Sharing their festivities on social media, the friends and families of many graduates decorated gardens and houses with balloons and bunting to help their loved ones mark what would have been their graduation day.

Here, FEMAIL reveals how graduates from around the UK have refused to let the pandemic ruin their special day.
