Dave Chapelle Attacker Arrested – Has Isaiah Lee Being Charged? Jail Update

Isaiah Lee is the suspect who allegedly attacked Dave Chapelle when performing on stage. According to ABC7, on Tuesday evening, the incident at the Netflix is a Joke Festival at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The video posted to social media showed that the comedian performed as part of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest when a man rushed and tackled him. 

Chris Rock joined Chappelle on stage shortly after the incident and joked, “Was that Will Smith?” It was a sarcastic remark but funny that probably lightened up everyone’s mood after the scary moment. 

In addition, the attacker was seen on a gurney being loaded into an ambulance to be brought to a hospital, as seen in the footage posted by The Sun.  It is said that he had a dislocated arm.

Dave Chapelle’s attacker, Isaiah Lee, has been arrested. Although the comedian was unharmed, the incident may have shaken him too.

The auhtorities took him to the hospital before being placed into jail on $30,000 bail early Wednesday. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. 

Further information regarding his purpose of attacking the artist is yet to be disclosed. The police have not provide much detail about the incident. They are probably interrogating him. 

Isaiah Lee rushed to the stage where he tackled and assaulted Dave Chapelle. he was armed with a replica gun that could open up a knife blade, according to police.

In a social media clip just after the incident, Chappelle joked about the attacker: “It was a trans man.” His jokes were offensive previously as well.

Some had criticized him for his jokes about the trans community, and there was a backlash last year against his Netflix special. So it could be why his safety may be a serious matter.
