A majority of U.S. voters believe Hunter Biden is getting ‘preferential treatment’ in the federal probe into his business affairs, a new poll has found.  

It comes after a special agent for the IRS, the country’s tax agency, sought whistleblower protection from Congress after he alleged the investigation is being mishandled.

The survey by Rasmussen Reports found that 69% of Americans believe the accusations that he is using family connections to avoid tougher punishment. 

Findings by the leading polling firm said as many as 48% of the electorate say it is a ‘very serious scandal.’

But just 40% think that Joe Biden will be impeached over the allegations that he and officials to him are obstructing the work of IRS investigators. 

The White House has repeatedly denied any interference in the case. 

Hunter Biden’s taxes and foreign business work have been under federal investigation by a federal grand jury in Delaware since at least 2018.    

It is understood the initial focus is on whether or not he reported all of his income and whether he lied on gun purchase paperwork in 2018.

House Republicans are also investigating Hunter Biden and his businesses, alleging he raked in millions from foreign governments for his now-defunct investment firm.

So far no charges have been filed against the 53-year-old, whose business interests came under the spotlight once more after leaked emails from his laptop emerged online.  

His membership on the board of a Ukrainian energy company and his efforts to strike deals in China have also sparked claims of influence-peddling.

He and the president’s sister Valerie Biden Owens traveled on Air Force One on the commander-in-chief’s recent visit to Ireland.

But staffers inside the Biden administration insisted they took part in no official events during the trip. 

Hunter Biden was spotted over the weekend at a California vineyard that belongs to uber-rich Democratic donor Joe Kiani, a tech mogul.

He was seen with his wife Melissa Cohen and their three-year-old son Beau, plus their taxpayer-funded Secret Service detail.

It came as a judge in Arkansas ruled that he must appear in court for a paternity case filed by a former fling, Lunden Roberts.

Hunter will also have to submit to a deposition in June in which Roberts’ lawyers will likely grill him about his various businesses and shady overseas ventures.

They’ll also want to know  Hunter’s finances have cratered while he’s selling paintings for up to $500,000 apiece under his new guise as an abstract artist.

Roberts, a former stripper, won a reported $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019.

She also forced the ex-Navy reservist, booted out of the military in 2014 for testing positive for cocaine, to take a DNA test to prove he fathered their daughter, Navy Joan, during their 2017 fling.

Roberts’s lawyers say Hunter Biden has not provided ‘a single item or word of discovery’ in their ongoing child support lawsuit.

Independence County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer on Monday ordered Biden to attend court on May 1 because his absence is ‘interfering with the process of litigation.’
