Former Georgia football player Akhil Crumpton was arrested today, according to a post by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, and identified as the shooter in the murder of Elijah James Wood on March 19, 2021 at a RaceTrac in Oconee County.

Ahkil Nasir Crumpton was apprehended by the sheriff’s office with the assistance of numerous agencies. On March 19, 2021, Elijah Wood, 23, was fatally shot in a shop on Highway 441.
According to the sheriff’s report, the investigation got a big break when the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the FBI uncovered and matched the shell casing of a gun with a shell casing found at the RaceTrac station.
