A British man has died after being pulled unconscious from the sea in front of his horrified partner.

He was swimming in Yeroskipou, a coastal town in western Cyprus, when he suddenly felt unwell, according to local media reports.

The man and his partner were in the sea together when he lost consciousness.

Emergency services were called and brought the British man back ashore, where they administered CPR.

He was then transported to Paphos General Hospital, where he was declared dead.
