Adrenaline junkies got behind the wheel of their handmade go-karts this weekend to celebrate the Soapbox Derby’s 70th birthday.
Organised by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, the event in Hunstanton involved around 40 teams from across the country who were competing in their cardboard cars.
Drivers were allowed two spins around the track – with some winning after reaching speeds of up to 30mph.
Others were less fortunate and crashed, leaving them walking away with bumps and bruises.
The course, lined with hay bales, was surrounded by hundreds of spectators who cheered on the teams.
Prizes were given to the best-looking kart of the day and the overall fastest time. Teams who finished in the top three positions in the three categories (under 16s, over 16s and over 65s) were also awarded.
