To get started, the woman said you need to mash the five bananas and mix the ingredients together.

‘Pour them into a lined cake tin, add three centimetres of water to the bottom of your slow cooker and place the cake tin inside the slow cooker,’ she said.

Then, leave your slow cooker on high for two hours with a tea towel under the lid, and by the time you return, you should have delicious warm banana bread ready to eat.

Sharing photos of her results online, hundreds of people were hugely impressed with the woman's handiwork with many saying they couldn't wait to try the recipe (pictured after)

This isn’t the first low-ingredient recipe to go viral.

Last year, a savvy mother drew similar praise for making two apple tea cakes using two basic Woolworths ingredients worth $4.25.

The Australian mum, who posted her handiwork in a baking group on Facebook, used a tin of apple slices – which cost $3.50 – and two packets of 75c butter cake mix.

Others have made five-ingredient chocolate fudge with two blocks of milk chocolate, one can of condensed milk, butter, vanilla essence and one packet of clinkers – a popular childhood candy dipped in chocolate.

To make this, add the chocolate, condensed milk, one tablespoon of butter or margarine and one tablespoon of vanilla essence to a slow cooker.

‘Melt on high, stirring every 15 minutes for 45 minutes,’ the cook said.

Next prepare a tray with baking paper.

‘I line the bottom with clinkers (cut in half) then pour mixture over and top with clinkers,’ she said.

Place in the fridge until set, then serve.
