He received his bachelor’s degree in 2020, and early this year, a University official said, he finished his “graduate studies for the master of arts in criminal justice program.”
Bryan Kohberger, a student researcher with a DeSales University study, asked for involvement in a study “to investigate how emotions and psychological features influence decision-making when committing a crime” in a post that was taken down from Reddit after the arrest was made public.
“This study tries to uncover the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with an emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience,” the now-deleted Reddit post stated.
When CNN contacted a professor at DeSales University who was one of the study’s leads investigators, they declined to comment. The college still needs to provide a comment.
Kohberger attended Northampton Community College and received an Associate of Arts in Psychology in 2018, according to a spokeswoman who talked with CNN.

The suspect detained in connection with the murders of four University of Idaho students who were discovered stabbed to death in November attended a nearby school and lived not far from the scene of the crime.
According to the criminal complaint, Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was detained in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on Friday due to an active arrest warrant for first-degree murder issued by the Moscow, Idaho, Police Department and the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office.
In the early hours of November 13, at home outside of the small college town of Moscow, the four victims—Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20—were all stabbed repeatedly.
Police from the University’s Pullman campus helped the authorities carry out search warrants at his apartment and workplace, the statement said.
Earlier, a CNN crew captured images of Police officers outside a Pullman, Washington, graduate student residence that authorities claimed was connected to Kohberger.
Moscow, the scene of the killings, is reachable by car from Pullman in about 15 minutes. Currently in Police custody is the suspect.
