Iman was cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Kamala Khan in the Marvel Studios and Disney+ miniseries Ms. Marvel in September 2020.

Sana Amanat, co-creator of Kamala Khan and co-executive producer of the television series, emphasized Iman’s Zoom audition, which revealed that Vellani, like Khan, is an Avengers fanboy.

Amanat claimed Iman showed him every area of her room, which was covered entirely in Avengers. Then Iman added, ‘Oh, I’m not done yet,’ opened her closet, and there was more Marvel everywhere.”

Iman made her cinematic debut in Ms. Marvel, which debuted on Disney+ on June 8, 2022.

The miniseries is part of the MCU’s Phase Four and serves as a prequel to the future feature The Marvels, sharing continuity with the franchise’s films. The series, as well as her depiction of Kamala Khan, got good reviews and accolades.
