Arrest Update: Where Is Judge Aileen Cannon Now?

The judge nominated by Trump, Aileen Cannon, is getting ready to oversee his case involving documents and will soon start a lengthy and challenging health fraud trial.

In her brief time on the bench, Aileen Cannon, the federal judge presiding over Donald Trump’s most recent criminal case, has only presided over four relatively regular criminal trials.

This starkly contrasts the historical and intricate processes she will conduct regarding the former president.

According to a review of the Southern District of Florida dockets, Cannon’s criminal work has primarily focused on a few types of cases.

The cases include those involving the distribution of controlled substances, the unauthorized entry of people who had previously been deported, felons possessing firearms, and the trafficking or use of children in pornographic or other forms of violence.

The four did not have speedy trials that lasted a little longer than three days each, and most ended in plea bargains.

In those situations, there haven’t been many noteworthy judgments or opinions on complicated legal matters.

And Cannon, 42, has nearly never gone against the prosecution in common evidentiary disputes, defendant petitions to suppress evidence, or moves to dismiss different cases.
