An Air New Zealand flight declared a mid-air emergency just 45 minutes before it was due to land in Sydney.

Flight 101 from Auckland to Sydney issued the emergency alert at 8.08am AEST on Thursday.

‘A medical event took place on board flight NZ101 from Auckland to Sydney this morning,’ a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia,

‘You’ll appreciate for privacy reasons, we are unable to share any further information.’

The plane has since landed in Sydney.
