Alexandra Burke ensured her latest appearance at the Notting Hill Carnival was about rather more than good food, loud music and positive vibes as the COVID-hit event drew to a close on Monday.

The former X Factor winner was on hand to support breastfeeding awareness campaign Pumps On Parade as she took to the streets of west London in full costume on day three of the annual event.

Burke, 34, was advocating the campaign’s drive to correct taboos regarding public breastfeeding and breast pumping after welcoming her first child with footballer fiancé Darren Randolph in July.

Appearing alongside family-run band Utopia Mas UK, the singer wore a breast pump beneath her extravagant sequined outfit while taking part in Monday’s celebration.

The campaign follows research undertaken by breast pump manufacturer Elvie Stride that reveals almost half of mothers feel they lose a sense of self when breastfeeding or pumping.

Additionally, two thirds give up on previous activities or hobbies during the first year of breastfeeding their children.

Burke and Randolph – a goalkeeper with West Ham United – are yet to announced the name and gender of their baby, having struggled to decide on what to call it.

She told HELLO! magazine: ‘We are still deciding on a name, but we’ve got a few floating around. Ever since I fell pregnant, we’ve affectionately called the baby ‘Grape’. I think some people may have thought that was their name!’

The singer revealed to MailOnline last year she’s in a ‘really happy place’ with ‘lovely guy’ Randolph – who she’s thought to have been dating since May 2021.

Their romance began after her separation from footballer Angus MacDonald in October 2020 following a 15-month relationship.

An insider confirmed to MailOnline at the time that Burke and MacDonald had ‘amicably split’ and ‘remain good friends’ despite having gone their separate ways.

The X Factor winner began dating the sportsman following the breakdown of her engagement to Josh Ginnelly, who she split from just weeks earlier.

Burke was in a relationship with ex-fiancé Josh for three years before they split in June 2019.

Randolph previously dated The Saturdays star Rochelle Humes before she married singer Marvin Humes in 2012.

A source previously told The Sun that she was initially reluctant to date another footballer after MacDonald and was deliberately taking things ‘incredibly slowly’ with Randolph.

The insider added: ‘Darren is the sweetest, most down-to-earth guy — and incredibly charming.’
