Shocking moment ‘drunk driver’ narrowly misses oncoming car and crashes into parked vehicles along residential street

Video footage has captured the moment an alleged drunk driver smashed into four parked cars, narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle.

In the 12-second clip, a black car can be seen arriving at a three-way junction in Ilford before suddenly swerving to the left.

A security camera captures the driver smashing into two parked vehicles on the other side of the road before narrowly missing an oncoming car.

According to local reports, police arrested a 60-year-old man on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit.

The car continues back to the other side of the road and grazes another parked vehicle before smashing into the rear of another, crashing it into the facade of a property.

 The incident was recorded on Thorold Road at around 8.47pm on May 31.

Officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.

There were no reported injuries.

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: ‘A car had collided with a house and four parked cars.

‘One man had left the vehicle before the brigade arrived and was assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.’

Social media users compared the incident to a scene from Wacky Races.

‘It’s like something from a 70s comedy sketch,’ wrote one viewer.

‘How lucky is that other car driving past to avoid getting hit, he’s laughing into the sunset,’ added a Twitter user.

Another joked it was the ‘U-turn of the year’ while another questioned: ‘How the hell did they manage that?’

Others did not see a funny side to the dangerous incident, with one viewer adding: ‘Lucky they didn’t kill anyone, ban them for life!’
