A man has died after being pulled from the water unconscious while he was competing at the Noosa Triathlon.

The 53-year-old man from Beaumaris, Victoria, was pulled from the water at Main Beach in Noosa Heads at about 7.50am on Sunday.

The man was competing in the 40th anniversary Noosa race when fellow athletes found him unresponsive in the water towards the end of the swim leg.

Emergency services performed CPR on the man but were unable to revive the athlete.

A report is being prepared for the coroner. However, the man’s death is being treated as non-suspicious.
