A Connecticut man has been arrested and charged after authorities discovered a multi-million dollar magic mushroom farm that some described as a factory inside his suburban home.
Weston Soule, 21, was running the farm out of his home in Burlington, about 19 miles west of Hartford.
An anonymous tip led to an investigation from the state police and local DEA officials.
On Thursday, police raided the home and discovered ‘a large mushroom-growing operation.’
‘Detectives made contact with Soule and observed ventilation equipment throughout the residence consistent with those used in clandestine laboratories,’ the state police said in a press release.

Soule had initially tried to block detectives from entering his home, though they’d attained search warrants.
Photos of the lab show multiple shelves stacked with large bags of mushrooms from the ceiling to the floor in many rooms of the house.
Outside the house, police laid out the stunning amount of drugs that Soule was keeping and growing.
The police were able to seize around $8.5million in various psychedelic mushrooms at different stages of development.
Soule tried to claim that nothing he was growing was illegal before being pressed into admitting that they were ‘psilocybin.’
Psilocybin is what’s typically referred to as ‘magic mushrooms’ and are illegal to grow and sell.
Magic mushrooms typically resemble regular mushrooms but they are a hallucinogen and can alter the user’s state of mind.
They are known as a Schedule 1 substance, defined as ‘drugs, substances and chemicals that are not currently accepted for medical use and have a high potential for abuse.’

Soule was arrested on site and charged with possession with intent to sell/distribute narcotics and operation of a drug factory.
Each charge carries up to three years in prison and an additional fine.
He was held on $250,000 cash bond and faces an arraignment on November 16 in New Britain Superior Court.
