They are known for defying royal protocol with public displays of affection and today Prince Harry and his new wife Meghan looked enamoured as ever as they kissed during the prize presentation at the end of a charity polo game.

The Duchess, 36, was eager to congratulate her husband after his Sentebale St Regis team won 5-4 over Royal Salute, with the Prince scoring two goals at the Sentebale Polo Cup – held to raise funds for Harry’s charity which supports young people with HIV and Aids in Lesotho.

Meghan, 36, who was channelling 50s chic in a £2,357.50 navy dress by Carolina Herrera, gave handsome victorious team captain, international polo legend and male model Nacho Figueras, a friendly peck on each cheek – but only had eyes for one man, Prince Harry.

As they walked away from the prize presentation Meghan could be seen affectionately rubbing the prince’s back before the pair walked off hand in hand, showing that the honeymoon period between the newly-weds certainly hasn’t cooled off.

And if further proof were needed, Harry’s close friend and fellow player Nacho said afterwards: ‘The Duchess is lovely and wonderful. I’m very happy for Harry. They are both lucky to have found each each other and I am very excited about this new chapter in his life.’

Figueras said Meghan had been excited to present the prize at today’s match, joining a long list of royal ladies – including Diana, Princess of Wales – to hand out a polo trophy.

‘She said she enjoyed the game. She watched the game with my wife which was wonderful because she could learn more about the game,’ he explained.

‘It was great that I got to play with Harry because we normally play against each other. Harry played great. They are very, very happy together.’

The Duchess of Sussex has well and truly mastered the art of looking chic at the polo.

You might remember the navy Antonio Berardi dress Meghan wore for her first ever public appearance with Prince Harry at the polo last year, and today she stuck to a similar fashion formula.

This time her navy midi dress hails from the Carolina Herrera Resort ’19 collection and we love the denim fabric, wrap over front and flattering fit and flare shape. When teamed with nude heels by Aquazzura and the same woven J.Crew clutch bag that we’ve spotted Pippa Middleton carrying recently, it’s a flawless look.

Unfortunately Meghan’s dress isn’t available to buy yet, but click (right) to get a preview of it at Moda Operandi.

He laughed at suggestions that Meghan wanted to learn to play polo, saying: ‘What are you reading?! Do you use Google or what? Sometimes it doesn’t work!’

Proud royal father Mike Tindall, who is married to Harry’s cousin Zara was also in the crowd to support the royal and gave an update on his family life, a month after their second daughter Lena, was born saying ‘it’s been brilliant so far. So far so good I can’t complain – [Lena] eats, sleeps.’

He said he and wife Zara, the Queen’s grand-daughter, were finding a lot the clothes they had bought for their new baby hadn’t been needed in the heatwave.

‘It’s a bit hot. You buy all these clothes and they never need them. We just use nappies, but I’m not going to complain about hot weather in England,’ he said.

Lena was born on June 18. The couple, who have an older daughter Mia, four, had previously lost another child after Zara suffered a miscarriage.

How Harry’s gap year trip inspired his charity work

In 2004, Harry spent two months in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho during his gap year, and the experience made a lasting impression on the then 19-year-old.

He has since returned many times and founded his charity Sentebale – meaning ‘forget me not’ – in 2006 in honour of his mother Diana to help disadvantaged children in the land-locked kingdom.

Earlier this week, Harry joined pop star Elton John to launch a campaign to raise HIV awareness among men, warning that ‘dangerous complacency’ about the virus threatened the quest to wipe it out.

The billion-dollar project ‘MenStar’ will target men living with or at risk of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, which has been ravaged by AIDS since the 1980s.

Meghan teamed her chic dress with delicate blue topaz earrings from her favourite brand Birks, and carried a fan rattan clutch from J. Crew, currently on sale for the bargain price of £44 – and previously spotted on Kate’s younger sister Pippa at Wimbledon only last month.

After enjoying lunch with sponsors and charity supporters, Harry took to the field for the Sentebale Polo Cup at The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in support of his charity of the same name, with his number one fan Meghan cheering him on from the stands.

Before Harry took to the pitch this afternoon, the royal couple were treated to canapés including Mozzarella ice cream in a Parmesan cone, Scottish langoustine and macadamia and puffed scallop wonton with pickled turnip at the event, all served up by leading society caterer Table Talk.

The sporting fixture has become an important annual event raising funds and awareness for Sentebale, an organisation which works with children and teenagers in Lesotho and Botswana who are coming to terms with being HIV positive, have Aids or have lost their parents to the disease.

The polo event, being held at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, usually features international professional players and talented amateurs.

Harry will play on the Sentebale St Regis team, captained by Sentebale Ambassador Nacho Figueras, against the Royal Salute team, captained by Malcolm Borwick.

A 2004 gap year trip to the landlocked African nation of Lesotho inspired the duke to set up his charity two years later with the country’s Prince Seeiso, younger brother of King Letsie III.

Their aim was to help youngsters in need and other children who had lost one or both parents to Aids or contracted the disease themselves.

In November 2015 Sentebale opened its £2 million Mamohato Children’s Centre in Lesotho to scale up its Mamohato camps, a residential project providing psychological, social and practical support to children struggling to cope with being HIV positive.

Harry most recently travelled to the southern African kingdom last month to open a community hall on behalf of Sentebale.

He met children at the Phelisanong Children’s Centre in Pitseng, Leribe during what Kensington Palace described as a ‘private visit’ without his new wife Meghan.

Harry and Meghan’s monogram revealed for first time

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s monogram was revealed for the first time this week (26 July).

The newlyweds’ official cypher appears on the letterhead of a thank you note sent to Australia’s Today show host Georgie Gardner, who sent the couple a picnic blanket as a wedding present.

It features their initials H and M intertwined in an elaborate blue typeface, with a crown on top.

Georgie said she was ‘very thrilled’ to have received a letter in the mail on Wednesday from the royal couple. She proceeded to read out the personalised letter on air, with Karl, 46, unable to hide his shock at his co-host’s prized stationery.

‘Dear Georgie, we wanted to write and thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful wedding gift,’ the letter read.

‘We’re both delighted that you would think of us during this special time and greatly appreciate your kindness.

‘We apologise for the delay in getting this letter to you but as you can hopefully understand it has been a very busy time for us.

‘Thank you again for your kind gift. We are incredibly touched. All the best, H&M.’
