The Ligature Over Head online challenge makes people pass out often by strangulation. The challenge got famous in the year 2021.

Typically, Ligature is a kind of strangulation. It involves wrapping something around the neck and applying pressure from a point called the “tie off.” This kind of strangulation stops blood flow to the brain. Most frequently, this causes death, lifelong brain damage, and other adverse effects.

For example, a patient might tie off to anything lower, even at floor level, and then lean away from the ligature point.

Accident Details- What Happened To Archie Battersbee?

Archie Battersbee, a 12-year-old boy, is a victim of The Ligature Over Head online challenge.

On April 7, 2022, Battersbee got seriously injured at his home in Southend, Essex. He was found senseless with a ligature over his head.

It is presumed that Ligature could have been his participation in an online asphyxiation challenge.

Archie’s mom found her young boy unconscious and took him to the Royal London Hospital. Since the accident, he has been in a coma state and shows no sign of consciousness.

In May 2022, a specialist carried out the test on Archie. They were unable to find hope in the 12-year-old’s recovery. The medical reports also claim that Battersbee will never regain consciousness or be able to breathe without support.

Archie Battersbee Health And Recovery Update

The doctors said Archie Battersbee is ‘brain stem dead.’ He is in an artificial life support machine and no longer has brain functions.

Meanwhile, his case is in the middle of a UK legal dispute on life-support treatment.

Initially, the High Court ruled that the life support for Battersbee should be stopped as his brain stem was dead. Legally, a person whose brain is dead is confirmed as dead.

Battersbee’s parents, Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee see hope in his recovery. They say their son’s heart is still beating and breathing alone. Hollie Dance said: ‘Words cannot describe how devastated we are. The pressure put on us from the beginning to rush through the process of ending Archie’s life has been shameful. We will continue fighting for Archie and will not give up.’

In the latest development, the parents pleaded to the Health Secretary to prevent his life support treatment. They wrote a letter to Stephen Barclay claiming that the trust intends to remove the support as early as August 1, 2022.

Hollie added: ‘If this occurs, this will be extraordinary cruelty and a flagrant violation of Archie’s rights as a disabled person. Archie is entitled to have the decisions about his life and end, taken by the NHS and UK courts, to be scrutinized by an international human rights body.”

The court declared following an urgent hearing that it would not postpone the turning off of life support past Tuesday lunchtime.
