Mia Goodwin was a mother of three children and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer. At the time of her death, she was 33 years old.
She had worked as a cop for six years. During her time there, she was a member of the University City Division.
She was killed in an accident involving a tractor-trailer. When the accident occurred, she was a third-shift cop who had recently returned from maternity leave.
Her coworker describes her as an obedient, hardworking, and dedicated police officer.

Mia Goodwin was the wife of Charlotte firefighter Brenton Goodwin and the mother of three children, ages three, one, and four months.
Her husband and family must be in distress, as she has abandoned them with three small children.
It’s difficult to imagine life without a mother; it’s even more difficult to lose your mother as a child who doesn’t understand what’s happening.

Mia Goodwin and her coworkers were on their way to relieve the cops on that particular shift when they were struck by a tractor-trailer and the cab of a semi-truck that had collided. According to the department, she was killed in a car accident on I-85 South near W.T.
According to the CMPD, officers were responding to a separate incident on I-85 South around 3:40 a.m. when two tractor-trailers collided, causing those vehicles to collide with the cops.
One of the cops who was hit while riding in Mia’s vehicle reported the accident and began tending to the other injured officers, including herself.
While three other officers were treated and released from the hospital, Mia was pronounced dead on the scene.
