New Job: Where Is CBS Brad Edwards Going? Find Out About His New Role

Brad Edwards is an American journalist for CBS News Chicago, best known for hosting CBS 2’s weekday evening newscasts. Also, he is a CBS 2 Investigator alongside Dorothy Tucker, Dana Kozlov, Megan Hickey, and Dave Savini.

Moreover, CBS anchor Edwards earned the 2021 National Edwards R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Writing, the nation’s top broadcasting writing award.

Previously, Brad Edwards was associated with the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago as a Board of Directors from 2017 to 2021. Also, he is a member of Devices 4 the Disabled for the last two years now.

Recently, Brad Edwards was hired as lead Anchor and Storyteller for CBS News Chicago’s live streaming channel to broadcast breaking news on the 24/7 platform.

Edwards was appointed as an anchor for CBS 2’s weekday evening newscast in 2019. He served the position for almost three years before his appointment for CBS Chicago’s live streaming channel.

Now, Brad Edwards will serve as the primary storyteller for the station’s streaming channel and help the team produce compelling stories for the service in the newly formed post.

Journalist Edwards also anchored and reported in Detroit, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Michigan before his appointment at CBS2 Chicago in 2012.

Brad’s efforts have resulted in new regulations and prosecutions, the reunification of families and the release of the lady who was serving a 50-year sentence for a crime she did not commit.

 

Is Brad Edwards Leaving CBS?

No, Brad Edwards is not leaving CBS News. He will, however, no longer be a part of CBS 2’s weekday evening newscast.

Recently, Chicago native Joe Donlon was hired in the post of anchor for a weekday evening newscast on CBS along with Jim Williams.

On 2 May 2022, Brad Edwards announced the news through his Twitter handle @tvbrad, which read, “New guy alert. This is Joe, and you’re going to like him; I do.”

New Job: Where Is CBS Brad Edwards Going?

The station declared Brad Edwards the lead anchor and storyteller for CBS News Chicago’s streaming channel. In May 2022, he was assigned to that position.

Brad Edwards will manage CBS Chicago’s live streaming coverage of breaking news on the 24/7 platform and guide the team that will produce compelling, groundbreaking long-form documentaries and long-form stories.

From 2019 to 202, Brad Edwards co-anchored CBC 2’s weekday evening newscasts alongside Irika Sargent at 5,6 and 10 p.m.

Getting Hosed, his exposure to Chicago’s faculty water billing system, earned three Emmy Awards in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Nonetheless, he also won the RTDNA/ NEFE honored for Personal Finance Reporting in 2020.

Following a groundbreaking examination by journalist Edwards and his team, Illinois enacted two new state laws in 2021.
