Susie is a 1964-born English lexicographer, etymologist, and media figure. Since 1992, she has hosted “Dictionary Corner” on Channel 4’s game show Countdown.

She also appears on Jimmy Carr’s post-watershed parody of the show, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Since 2016, she has served as honorary vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

Viewers of Countdown were outraged when they discovered Rachel Riley and Susie Dent were missing from the show in 2021, and her absence is still being debated.
