According to reports, the police department was initially unable to identify the murderer. After nearly a year, they resumed their investigation, and they finally received a lead from a teenager named Antonio Smith.
Vanessa was spotted with a local hustler named Paul Rutland, according to the teen. It was later revealed that his real name was Paul Waters.
We discovered that he used to live in the same neighborhood as us. Antonio stated that he was attempting to sell some jewelry.
Surprisingly, the authorities were able to match the jewelry to those Vanessa had misplaced at her home. This proved that Paul was the murderer.

Authorities charged him with first-degree murder and aggravated rape following his confession. He was also sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
He has been attempting to obtain freedom since there was the possibility of parole. He has not, however, been successful in any of them.
