The soul singer, 54, took part in the 2006 series of the BBC show and said she found it too intense and couldn’t get to grips with the amount of physical exercise required of the celebrities.
Speaking to MailOnline at a special screening of David Hockney A Bigger Story at the Lightroom, London, Mica said she thought the show would be a good way to lose weight.
She said: ‘It was terrible. There’s so much training, and it’s so intense. You don’t even know if you’re coming or going. If you’re a sports person, it can work, but someone like me – who had people dancing in my [music] videos – I didn’t do any of that.
‘I used to stand there with a piece of cloth waving it around for ages. I saw my former dance partner, Ian Waite, the other day when he came to see one of my shows, which was really nice. Ian is great.’

Mica was so happy when she was eliminated from the show in week two that she threw a party to celebrate.
She said: ‘I was so excited; I can’t even tell you. My body was exhausted, and I’d just had my youngest at the time – she wasn’t even one yet, and I was still breastfeeding, and I thought Strictly would be a great weight loss.’
She added: ‘When I grew up, we used to watch Strictly Come Dancing, so I thought, this is a really good idea, and that’s why I decided to do it, but honey, when you’re in it, it’s a whole other thing.’
Mica, who appeared on EastEnders in 2020 as Ellie Nixon, said she would love the chance to return to the soap.
She explained: ‘I don’t know if they’re going to let me out because I’m still in jail. It would be nice to go back, and I thought I’d be out on good behaviour by now, but the phone hasn’t rung yet.’
Elsewhere, Mica also revealed she was recently the victim of a robbery when her Range Rover was stolen from near her home in Holland Park.
She said: ‘I had my car stolen – that was a right bastard! My Range Rover was taken and that was very annoying. I’ve lived there for 20 years, and I was in Chelsea before that, and born in Islington.
‘Holland Park is an affluent area, and everybody is getting robbed there. Notting Hill as well! The thing with the Ranges is they don’t have a key – it’s just a button, so it’s keyless. They stole the Range Rover in January, and I didn’t get it back – it’s gone.

‘It was black and that was my fourth Range Rover, but that was the only one ever stolen. I’ve got a new car now, but I’m not going to say what it is (laughs), but it’s not a Range Rover.’
Mica, who is mother to daughters Monet, 32, and Russia-Mae, 13, with her ex Andreas Neumann, also discussed her love life.
Asked if she is dating at the minute, she said: ‘No, it’s’ just me and my dog, and my youngest daughter is getting ready to leave for college, and my oldest daughter is married and lives in Crouch End with her husband.
‘I’m not dating. I’m dating me, and I’m in love with me. It took a long time to get here.’
Asked if she would like to get married, Mica replied: ‘I don’t know. I don’t like to make plans, and when it’s right it will come.’
