Myers, who has previously featured on Countdown and Strictly Come Dancing, pleaded that fans request his privacy as he gets treatment for an unidentified disease, explaining that he didn’t want to “hide under a rock.”

On their podcast, The Agony Uncles, Myers informed a friend and colleague chef that he would be taking a short break from films and public appearances as he has to undergo some chemo.
“I may be badly biker for a while,” he quipped, “so it’s just a warning; I don’t want to fuss about it; I look fine bald.”

Dave Myers revealed to viewers in 2018 that he had been diagnosed with glaucoma, claiming that he had disregarded the eye ailment as a terrible hangover.

Myers discussed his illness with his TV cooking partner Si King on their podcast, and he stated, “Anyway, Kingly, I’ve got to come clean now, I haven’t been too well recently.”
Dave Myers first met Si King in the 1990s, and the two went on to co-host The Hairy Biker’s Cookbook on BBC TV in 2004. They traveled around the United Kingdom on their motorbikes, exhibiting and writing recipe books.
