According to Gigi White and the family’s post on the drummer’s Facebook profile, “Alan White, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and a real family man, passed away at the age of 72 at his Seattle-area home on May 26, 2022.”
Alan was born in Pelton, County Durham, England, on June 14, 1949. White began piano lessons at the age of six, drum instruction at the age of twelve, and public performances at the age of thirteen.
He went to a technical school and then relocated to the nearby town of Ferryhill when he was seven years old, where he spent the rest of his life.
Meanwhile, his piano lessons were milestones for his musical journey as a drummer. He used to play the instrument “very percussively,” which his uncle noted.
After that, his uncle reported to his parents about his love of music, who purchased him an Ajax drum kit for Christmas when he was twelve years old.
White cited his uncle as a significant influence in his life.

White was married to his wife Gigi for nearly 40 years. Jesse and Cassi are their two children, while his son followed in his footsteps, being a musician.
He left his home nation and died in Newcastle, Washington, close to Seattle. In 1997, White served as best man at Jon Anderson’s wedding.
White was also the Grand Marshal of the Issaquah Salmon Days celebration in Washington.
