Anne Robinson Illness And Health Problems – What Happened? In the year 2001, Anne Robinson was diagnosed with skin cancer. She is leaving Countdown after only one year on the show.
She is a British journalist and television host. She hosted the BBC game show The Weakest Link from 2000 to 2012. Since June 2021, she has hosted Channel 4’s quiz show Countdown, succeeding Nick Hewer.
Similarly, she decided to pursue a career in journalism rather than get a degree in theater. After working in a news agency, she came to London in 1967 as the first young female trainee at the Daily Mail. As a result of scooping the specifics of Brian Epstein’s death, she was offered a permanent position.
Previously, Robinson worked for several news channels and shows, including Points of View (1987-1997) and Watchdog (1993-2001). However, the recent news indicates that she is leaving the show.
What Happened To Anne Robinson From Countdown?
In the year 2001, the TV host was diagnosed with skin cancer. She fought the disease for a long period and recovered fully after surgery. During her cancer recovery, she became addicted to alcohol, nearly killing her.
Many people speculate that her departure from the Channel 4 game program Countdown is due to her health problems. However, the reason behind her departure is completely different this time.
Moreover, Anne had announced her departure from the show, stating that she was leaving to make “way for an older woman.” She also said: “I’ve had a great time hosting this event. I also stayed longer than I had planned. It’s now time for an elderly woman to take over.”
The presenter also added, “I hope that I have educated TV executives that not all ladies in their seventies are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks.”
Anne Robinson Illness And Health Problems
After ten years, the TV journalist is finally free of skin cancer. She had surgery to remove her cancer and made a full recovery.
Anne said: “I’m delighted to be standing here right now. I had no idea I had cancer until it was too late. A mole on my back was noticed by chance by a doctor in Los Angeles. I’m a fading, aging redhead, and we’re first-class sunbed customers, so I was expecting them to replace me,” she continued, “so I’m extremely touched that nobody will.”
As of now, she does not seem to have any illness other than the problems from her old age. The TV star, on the other hand, has had her fair share of health issues in the past, some of which were brought on by her drinking problem and others by natural causes.
Furthermore, her weight has dropped to six stones or roughly 38 kg. Her drinking issue was the cause of her weight loss and sickness in her 30s.
