The man accused of killing the County Durham toddler appeared at crown court for the first time in October.
Daymond, who was bearded and wearing a grey jumper, appeared via video link from HMP Leeds prison. Martin Scarbrough represented him while Jolyon Perks was prosecuting.
The alleged perpetrator was remanded in custody and asked to return to court in January. He is now expected to enter a plea to the charge.
Judge Howard Crowson set January 13 as the date for a plea and a trial preparation hearing, with a provisional trial date scheduled for March 13.
The judge told Daymond, “It is important you are open with your lawyers about anything you think might be relevant.”
Durham Constabulary also stated that a 23-year-old woman arrested in connection with the investigation was released under investigation.
Previously, Durham Police said a Police vehicle was “deliberately damaged” when officers attended the scene.
