Just months after his critically-acclaimed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nicolas Cage is eyeing a return to the comedy genre.

The 58-year-old actor has signed on to star in Dream Scenario for A24 Films, according to a new report from Deadline.

While no other cast members have signed on, Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster will serve as a producer.

No specific plot details have been given, aside from the fact that the project is indeed a comedy.

Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli will direct from his own original screenplay, though no production schedule was given.

Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen will produce under their Square Peg production company, which will mark their fourth collaboration with A24.

A24 Films released both of Aster’s feature directorial efforts – 2018’s Hereditary and 2019’s Midsommar – and they’re slated to release his upcoming Disappointment Blvd. starring Joaquin Phoenix, slated for release in 2023.

Also producing Dream Scenario is Jacob Jaffke and Tyler Campellone, with the casting process getting under way.

Cage has been experience a renaissance of sorts following his critically-acclaimed performance in the 2021 film Pig.

He also earned rave reviews for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which he plays a heightened version of himself. 

Cage will next be seen in Butcher’s Crossing with Xander Berkeley and Oscar-nominated actor Paul Raci, expected in 2023.

He also has The Retirement Plan and The Old Way both in post-production, along with Renfield, where he’ll play Dracula alongside Nicholas Hoult’s title character.

He also teased in an interview with Comicbook.com, Cage in April there may be a sequel to hiss 1997 film Face/Off in the works.

‘There have been some phone calls with Neal [Moritz], who I enjoyed very much working with on the first Face/Off,” the actor began, in a reference to the movie’s producer. 

‘He’s one of the true great producers in Hollywood,” Cage said, reiterating again that ‘they have been making some calls.’
