The police did not name Alp or Spierer, but they did confirm that two people, a man and a woman, were arrested Thursday night in Christchurch. They also noted that the two individuals refused to allow officers to search their computers.

For many years, Counterspin’s content has been accused of disseminating minor sources of fake news and misinformation.

Earlier this year, Counterspin published excerpts from the March 15 terrorist’s Livestream. The hosts were also involved in the anti-mandate movement, which included a 23-day occupation of the parliament grounds.

They’ve also talked about controversial topics like the moon landings, Covid-19 vaccines, the Christchurch massacre, and many others.

Counterspin Media’s primary Instagram account was recently deactivated. After Alp posted a video in which he called for violence against politicians and governments, his profile was deleted.

 

Here are The Charges On Counterspin Media Hosts Kelvyn and Hannah

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Kelvyn Alp and Hannah Spierer were released on bail. They are scheduled to appear in Christchurch District Court on August 31.

According to a police statement, the two people detained will be charged with violating the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act of 1993. The act governs the classification of games, commercial video-on-demand entertainment, and publications such as movies in New Zealand.

According to court records, the arrested man faces two counts of distributing an objectionable publication. Furthermore, he is accused of failing to perform his duties in connection with a computer search.

The detained woman has also been charged with obstructing law enforcement, disseminating illegal material, and failing to fulfill her obligations in connection with a computer search.

Anyone who knowingly distributes or displays an objectionable publication on the Internet faces up to 14 years in prison.

Kelvyn Alp and Hannah Spierer are New Zealand media personalities. They are right-wing activists.

Alp was a former army officer and the leader of New Zealand’s Direct Democracy Party. He has run unsuccessful political campaigns in the past, including for Manukau City Mayor in 2007 and the Te Tai Tokerau by-election in 2011.

In 2021, the activist established Counterspin Media. He later collaborated with Hannah Spierer on several projects.

Spierer is a former Green Party supporter. She previously served as the AUSA Environmental Affairs Officer.
