He was born on June 1st, 1944, and went to Coventry’s King Henry VIII School. He then received a state scholarship so that he could attend Corpus Christi College in Cambridge. Blamemore earned a BA in medical sciences in 1965, followed by an MA in 1969.

Colin served as the City University of Hong Kong’s Yeung Kin Man Professor of Neuroscience and Senior Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study. Blakemore was raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he was born.

In addition, Colin was a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the University of London, the Institute of Philosophy, and the School of Advanced Study. He was Oxford University’s Emeritus Professor of Neuroscience.

According to reports, the British Neurobiologist Colin Blakemore died on June 27, 2022, from an illness he was diagnosed with. However, he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease. The career of Professor Blakemore was not without controversy. Using animals in his experiments sparked decades of animosity campaigns from animal rights groups. He received death threats, letter bombs, and even HIV needles in the mail for him and his family.

His study centered on the early stages of brain development, vision, and, more recently, diseases including Huntington’s disease and stroke. Blakemore has even published several books and scholarly articles on these topics.

The neurobiologist and his wife had three daughters. One of their daughters, Sarah Jayne Blakemore, is a Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience professor at the University of Cambridge.
