Sam Waterston has been relatively quiet about his personal life, and whether he has had a stroke or not is still unknown.

However, one person writes in an online discussion: “I don’t think so, but finding anything about his health is difficult. He seemed to be quite discreet about it.”

He adds, “It makes no difference to me. There’s no reason why his character shouldn’t have this.”

While the other person says he has recently learned that Waterston had a mild stroke two years ago, although he was not sure where. He wonders why the show would cast him if the actor had such neurological issues in such a significant role.

Likewise, someone says, “I’m a big fan of Law and Order, and I was just telling my son the other day that his speech and demeanor sounded strange. He’s always had an odd manner of speaking, but it seems to be becoming worse this season. I suggested that he might have suffered a stroke.”
