Has Amber Heard Lied About Donation? Amber Heard is an American activist and actress accused in court of lying about donations she made.
The divorce of Amber and Johnny garnered global attention when Heard claimed that Depp was violent during their relationship. Johnny sued the publishers of the British newspaper The Sun for libel in 2018, accusing Heard of abuse.
In 2020, the High Court had ruled that the printed item claiming Johnny mistreated Amber was “basically true.”
Has Amber Heard Lied About Donation?
Amber Heard said in 2016 that she contributed half of her $7 million divorce settlement to charities, with $3.5 million going to the ACLU.
That was six years ago, and Amber has contributed nearly $1.3 million to the ACLU since then, according to Terence Dougherty, chief executive officer and general counsel.
According to Dougherty, the ACLU assumed that Heard intended for her $3.5 million donations to be distributed over ten years. Amber personally gave $350,000 of the total amount given thus far.

Others sent the remaining funds in Amber’s name: Johnny wrote a $100,000 cheque. Elon Musk contributed another $500,000 to the fund.
Amber was paying the charity until 2018, according to Elaine Bredehoft, one of Amber’s attorneys. In answer to Bredehoft’s queries, Dougherty acknowledged that no more payments were made after Johnny filed an action against Amber on March 1, 2019.
The complaint was filed against Amber in response to an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she had identified herself as a public figure representing domestic abuse.
The story never addressed Johnny, but it did discuss a time when Amber was married to him. Johnny filed a lawsuit, alleging defamation by his ex-wife and seeking $50 million in damages. Amber has filed a counterclaim seeking $100 million in damages.
Amber Heard Cross-Examination
It was found that the Tesla CEO, Elon Musk managed the donations on behalf of Amber Heard and also indicated in a 2016 email to the ACLU that the payments would be delivered over 10 years.
Dougherty was also questioned why Elon was representing this on behalf of Amber to which Elon replied, “because the Tesla CEO had a past relationship with the group.”
When the organization contacted Amber in 2019 to request payment, “we heard that she was having financial issues,” Dougherty said.
Dougherty’s testimony established that Amber lied in a UK court in 2020 when she stated that she had contributed the settlement sum to the organizations; Johnny lost that trial.

Johnny sued Amber in February 2019 for an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in December 2018. Amber stated that she became a public figure embodying domestic violence two years ago.
Although Amber did not identify Johnny in the op-ed piece, Johnny claimed that the article caused enormous financial losses to his career and harmed his ability to benefit from his vocation.
