According to Voanews, Otto Warmbier is an American college student who traveled to North Korea as a guided tour group in 2015. Warmbier was arrested and convicted for attempting to steal a propaganda poster from his hotel.

Warmbier was at Pyongyang International Airport, he was awaiting departure from North Korea in 2016, but he was arrested for his crime of stealing the poster.

Otto was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with hard labor. Warmbier suffered a severe neurological injury from an unconfirmed cause and fell into a coma, which lasted until his death.

To explain, Warmbier experienced a significant neurological impairment due to a legitimate cause after receiving his sentence. But in June 2017, it was revealed that a combination of botulism and a sleeping aid caused him to go into a coma.

Torture, Confession And Video Details

In the video, Otto pleaded for forgiveness. He asks for forgiveness from the government and explains that he has realized his mistakes.

However, the authorities did not pay attention to Otto’s plea. Otto may have been subjected to mental torture by the North Korean government.

Otto, who was scheduled to undertake a study-abroad program in Hongkong in early 2016, decided to visit North Korea en route to the New Year period.

He visited the country by booking a tour of North Korea with young pioneer tours. It was a budget tour operated in China by two New Zealanders.

Nonetheless, Warmbier did not survive the mental onslaught and torture, which resulted in him being in a state of coma in death.

How Did Otto Warmbier Die?

After his arrest at the airport, he was taken into custody and convicted of his crimes. He was arrested for a hostile act against the state.

Warmbier faced a neurological injury which resulted in him being comatose. However, he did not gain consciousness and died on June 19, 2017.

His cause of death was due to botulism and a sleeping pill. He died from torture and death. According to the report from the coroner, Otto was killed due to an injury to his brain.

His injury caused him to lack oxygen in his brain, resulting in his death and his being in a coma.
