Jerritt Elliott completed his high school education at Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades, California, where he succeeded in volleyball.

He played alongside Olympic gold champion Kent Steffes on his high school team, and in his senior year, he guided them to a 36-0 undefeated record.

He played men’s volleyball after high school at Pepperdine from 1986 to 1988 and at Hawai’i from 1989 to 1990 before earning a kinesiology degree from Cal State Northridge in 1991.

Elliott coached volleyball teams for high schools and clubs before moving into college coaching. He also worked from 1992 to 1995 as the director and head coach of the Westside Volleyball Club, where his 1994 team finished fourth in the Nike Volleyball Festival.

Jerritt Elliott was assigned with bringing the Longhorns back to a position of prominence when he was appointed as the seventh head coach in Texas Volleyball history in the spring of 2001.

By winning the 2012 NCAA national championship, the program’s third national title overall, and second in NCAA competition, he was successful in his mission to elevate the program back to the top of the college volleyball world.

Elliott, who has a 583-121 overall record in 24 seasons as a collegiate head coach and a 533-109 record in 21 years at Texas, has brought energy, expertise, and developing success to UT.

Elliott is known as one of the greatest recruiters in the country and has a keen eye for identifying new talent. In fact, all but four of his recruiting classes have received national rankings, and he has a total of eight top-two recruiting classes on his Texas CV and ten overall, including his classes at USC (2000 and 2001).

During his two years as the Women of Troy’s head coach, Elliott won the Pac-10 Coach of the Year award in 1999 and 2000.

He also received the AVCA Pacific Region Coach of the Year award in 2000 after guiding USC to its first-ever Pac-10 Championship title and its first place in the final four of a volleyball tournament in 15 years.

Jerritt Elliott’s Coaching Career Journey

Elliott joined the USC coaching staff as Lisa Love’s assistant coach. Elliott worked as a USC assistant coach and helped the Women of Troy consistently place in the top 15 in the country.

The two-time All-American middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic also benefited from his guidance. Due to Mick Haley’s appointment as head coach of the USA Women’s National Team for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he served as interim head coach for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Elliot guided the club as interim head coach to a share of the Pac-10 volleyball championship and the team’s first NCAA Final Four participation in 15 seasons. Elliott’s recruiting class was the school’s first-ever top-ranked recruiting class in 2000 and 2001.
