A woman in her mid-30s was discovered floating face down in the choppy conditions about 6.30 am at Marcus Beach.
It was later revealed that the woman was Jill Covitz, who died at the scene despite performing CPR for several minutes.

Jill Covitz is one of the victims of Noosa drowning, who died on the scene at Marcus Beach about 7 am on Tuesday. According to her Facebook profile, she is a Chief Experience Officer at Funlocka.
She was working with the Walk A While Foundation. Which was founded with the primary goal of walking alongside Indigenous people through the use of creative and visual arts as a common ground.
She was running a campaign to raise $10,000 for the Walk a While Foundation. As a part of her campaign she was also featured in Australia’s newest travel show, “Adventure All-Stars.”
As support for a fundraising campaign, the television had offered her a starring role in an upcoming television episode.
She was a very passionate and positive person, who knew what she was doing in her life.
Furthermore, she was working with her friend, Luke Cook to launch a new TV program, called CuppaTv in the following week. Sadly, Jill will no longer be with us to promote her work and procced with him.
What Happened To Her? Noosa Drowning Victim Update
Jill Covitz was a victim of the Noosa Drowning, she was announced dead at the scene. According to Surf Life Saving Regional Operations Manager Aaron Purchase, the woman was discovered floating in the water.
“They dragged her ashore and dialed triple zero.”
CPR was performed by lifeguards and paramedics, but the woman died at the scene. “From what I understand, about 6.30 a.m., a member of the public noticed a lady unconscious in the water,” Mr. Purchase said.
Emergency services were called to Marcus Beach, which is located between Callitris Crescent and Tristania Drive, shortly after 6.20 a.m.
According to Mr. Purchase, lifeguards who were about to go on duty for the day also responded quickly, only to find her dead.
The reason she was there, what she was doing at that hour, and what got her into trouble are still being investigated.
People have expressed their condolences to her family and friends following the release of a statement by a friend on Facebook.
