DWTS Professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American dancer who is currently a judge on the Ukrainian version of “Dancing With The Stars.” His family, including wife Peta Murgatroyd, are concerned because he has been trapped there since the Russian invasion.
Earlier in the day, Chmerkovskiy posted emotional videos from the capital city in the aftermath of the Russian attack. He tells his followers that he sought refuge in a “bomb shelter” and wished to return home.

Just hours after Chmerkovskiy posted a terrifying video from the top of a bunker-equipped hotel in Kyiv, his wife in the US expressed her concerns on Instagram.

“Pray for Maks, my husband,” she asked. “I don’t normally request these things from my social media platform, but today has been extremely difficult, and the next few days will be even more so.”
“My pain is overwhelming, and I’m struggling, but sending him your good vibes and love would mean the world to me. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
She stated that many people had approached her for information that she lacked. She only knew he was safe for the time being.
Peta went on to say, “Please keep Ukraine and the innocent civilians whose lives are being torn apart in your prayers. During my two visits, I grew to love this country, and they are in an unimaginable situation.”
Maksim was currently filming the “World of Dance Ukraine” in Kyiv. He was there on Thursday morning when Vladimir Putin’s surprise invasion of his neighbor began.

He stated, “And what I’m realizing is that my friends, whose children are here, whose mothers and fathers are here, and elderly people are here, they can’t just leave, you know?”
He then made a direct appeal to the Russian people, pleading with them not to believe propaganda that portrays Ukrainians as their enemies.
“I believe this will not be the way we do things in the civilized world of 2022,” he added. “Russia, as a powerful, forward-thinking nation, rather than a third-world country, should stand up and say something, in my opinion. Because no one’s voice is heard.”
The invasion, he claimed, was the result of “all one man’s ambition.”
