He was nominated as Reporter of the Year in 1993 by the Television and Radio Industry Club for his outstanding reporting on the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Similarly, he covered the IRA ceasefire in 1997 as well as the Good Friday Agreement.

In 1999, Matthew Amroliwala married his wife Jackie Long. His wife is a journalist as well. She is currently working as a social affairs editor and presenter for Channel 4 News.

Jackie began working for Channel 4 in 2011 and has been there ever since. She had previously worked as a Correspondent for Newsnight, as well as on The World at One, PM, and Five Live.

Matthew and Jackie are the proud parents of five children. Milo Amroliwala, Louis Amroliwala, Mary Amroliwala, and Mabel Amroliwala are their names. However, they have not revealed any information about their children.
