Cheat Meals of Melbourne Facebook group asked more than 50,000 followers to vote between the humble meat pie and the sausage roll – and the results are very controversial.
‘You walk into your local petrol station, you’re hungry and need a quick bite to get you through your day. What do you grab?’ the group asked.

Up to 50.1 per cent of foodies voted for sausage rolls, while 49.9 per cent of Australians opted for a meat pie.
Many said their favourite snack was sausage rolls because it was ‘easier to eat on the go’ while others said meat pies were the obvious choice.
‘Pie is definitely a sit down and enjoy the moment job,’ one said.
Another said: ‘Tough call but sausage roll wins.’
Others said it depends on where you are when you’re eating.
‘Snag roll if you’re pressed for time and gotta eat on the move. Pie if you’ve got time to savour it,’ one said.
Another said: ‘All depends if you’re driving or passenger.’
