Andrew Haines is a business executive. He has been serving as a Chief Executive Officer of Network Rail for the last four years.
Haines rejoined the railway industry in 2018. He had begun his career as a left luggage clerk in London and eventually as the Managing Director of South West Trains, later as the MD of Rail Division for First Group plc.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he formerly worked for the Civil Aviation Authority for almost nine years and was Chair of Trustees in the Balsam Family Project. He is an MBA graduate of the year 1995.

Since joining Network Rail, Haines refocused to be on the side of passengers and freight users.
In the very recent BBC Breakfast interview, Haines said that the offer to the RMT is a ‘good deal,’ but he doesn’t know about ticket office closures as it’s ‘not his area.’

The recent report and accounts of The Network Rail show that Haines’ salary rose from £554k to £590k in April 2022. He was given a £36,000 pay rise.

Meanwhile, Haines wrote to his team clarifying that his salary is “considerably less” than his predecessor, Mark Carne. He thinks that the number of high earners in The Network Rail is reducing yearly.
Previously, Mark Carnes’ salary on appointment was £675,000, which is nearly £100,000 less than that of Haines.
Upon rough estimation, the net worth of Andrew Haines is at least USD 7 million as of July 2022.
Accoridng to Wallmine, Haines sold GCAP shares worth more than $0 over the previous 12 years while owning over 2,826 units of GAIN Capital stock valued at over $435,012.

Andrew Haines is married to his wife, Caroline Haines.
In 2019, Haines’s wife showed concern about Andrew serving the significant role as Network Rail’s CEO.
Caroline was worried because Andrew had considered leaving his low-profile job in aviation to take over the monopoly that owns Britain’s 20,000 miles of railway. She said, “She was appalled and was absolutely horrified,” as per the Times.
Haines and his family reportedly live in London. The CEO has not shared much about his children.
