Batali is one of a number of high-profile men who have received public scrutiny in recent years as a result of the #MeToo social movement against sexual assault and harassment.
In 2017, he stepped away from day-to-day operations at his restaurant empire and left the now-defunct ABC food show “The Chew” after four women accused him of unwanted touching.
He opened an Eataly in the downtown Prudential Center in 2016 and a Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca in Boston’s Seaport District in 2015.
Batali’s Eataly stock has subsequently been purchased, and the city’s Babbo restaurant has closed.

She stated that after taking ten selfies with Batali, the chef began stroking her away from the camera’s view.
She went on to say that in the majority of the photos, Batali’s eyes were closed and that “this guy was wasted” at the time.
Batali waived his right to a jury trial, choosing instead for a judge to decide his fate.
Tene also stated that the 2017 event embarrassed her until she heard from other women who had similar experiences with Batali.
